Experience Jimmy Mazz

Jimmy Mazz began singing at the age of 14 in a Junior High School band with a group of friends that called themselves Vitus Pike. Growing up in a small town in Western Massachusetts left Jimmy with big dreams. His early desire to be a musician and performer was that of a rockstar, writing and singing songs. Riding the "new wave music" of British Rock and the punk music scene in the early 80's, Jimmy joined the band Picture This. A few years later, he formed Real World and toured with his original songs winning many battle of the bands competitions and recording almost 60 songs. Joining the wedding band Breezin' in 1993 changed his direction dramatically. Jimmy noticed that this line of performing actually yielded income, unlike playing rock n' roll in the clubs, and it was still really fun. The catch was that he needed to learn to be an entertainer, not just a performer. This was a nice alternative, especially when you were not in the smoky bars till 3am, and you got to wear a cool black tuxedo. Plus you were usually home before midnight. Donning that tux for his very first wedding also yielded Jimmy the nickname 007, after an onstage comment by one of his band mates. That wedding band experience became invaluable teaching Jimmy how to actually entertain an audience. Those years molded Jimmy into the consummate entertainer he is today headlining at The Superstar Theater and other great venues nationwide.
When the wedding band decided to retire after almost 20 years, Jimmy began freelancing as a bass guitar player and rock music singer again until forming the one hit wonder group 2XS in the early 2000's. Performing mainly in restaurants and lounges, Jimmy eventually would take on shows as a solo performer singing to digital midi tracks. One day the call came to do a wedding which was pretty intimidating for Jimmy having been out of the wedding band business for quite a while. And the fact that Jimmy wasn't the main speaker or leader of the wedding band so he wasn't sure he could actually do it. But after much arm-twisting, he finally agreed to take on the challenge. Learning a one hour set of Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin songs for the cocktail hour sparked the entertainer you see today. After many compliments and requests to do more weddings, upscale events, and private functions, Jimmy reached back and took his performing knowledge plus his love for an extremely wide variety of music and went full time as a crooner singer and entertainer. Restaurants and lounges were only a part of Jimmy's weekly gigs. Performing in Nursing Homes, Assisted Living & Active Adult facilities and Senior Centers in the area, he eventually built up enough work to sustain a mortgage.
From there it spread like wildfire and Jimmy's musical selection expanded to incorporate all genres of music including Motown, Folk, Polka, swing and of course a healthy dose of Rock ‘n’ Roll. The more Jimmy performed, the more the word spread and the higher profile shows were offered. Jimmy now headlines for a full month each year in Atlantic City, performs in Las Vegas, aboard several cruise ships, and in many casinos, theaters, supper clubs and banquet facilities nationwide as he includes many celebrity impressions and hilarious comedy into his act. He's performed in Europe, the Caribbean and travels and tours extensively to bring many completely different and uniquely themed shows to audiences everywhere. Based in Florida, Jimmy always makes time to come back to the Northeast to perform for his family, friends and ever-growing legion of fans.
Jimmy's ultra smooth vocals, unique song selection, and candid humor add genuine warmth to every performance. Though he is not an impersonator or a tribute artist, he plays with his characters and portrays them as he sees them through his own eyes. Don’t expect to see Elvis, Rod, Elton, Neil, Garth, Willie, Johnny Cash, Frankie, or Dean, on stage. Plan to hear their voice, but see Jimmy’s personal interpretation of these artists with an energized dose of audience interaction and a whole lot of fun thrown in. Jimmy's many unique shows have vastly different themes that include various wardrobes, songs, jokes, and stories, but always include artist interpretations, amusing parodies, audience participation, humorous antics, trivia, history, and of course a ton of great singing.
